Maybe you can find an awesome whale bank!

It’s time to clean out your closets everyone; The Reserve at Sugarloaf is having a YARD SALE! Come out and help the community by either donating food or cash or actually participating in the yard sale.

The yard sale will take place on Saturday, September 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the tennis courts. If you would like to participate, a $20 donation is asked of you which will go directly to the Atlanta Food Bank. In turn, you will be provided with a table to display your items upon.

There will also be a Donation Booth set up for cash and food donations. And if you’re hungry hot dogs and drinks will also be available for purchase in which all proceeds will be donated to the AFB. Be sure to check the expiration date on all donated food.

Contact the Leasing Office by Friday, September 3rd to reserve your spot in the Yard Sale!

Gwinnett Braves

Ted or Coolray?

Both the Atlanta Braves and Gwinnett Braves return home this weekend for a series against rivals. Atlanta will be taking on the Florida Marlins while the G-Braves  will be looking across the diamond at the Durham Bulls and Norfolk Tides. So, are you driving Downtown to the Atlanta Braves game and see our first place Braves, pay $12 for parking, spend about $100 on food for the family and be sitting in the upper deck. With that being said, you ARE almost guaranteed to see a win with the Braves having the best home record in the MLB.

Or you can drive a shorter distance to see the G-Braves at Coolray Field, pay only $5 for parking spend half of what you would on food at the Ted and be 10 rows from the field. Triple-A baseball is a lot more intimate than the Majors and it’s a lot more family-oriented! They have on-field promotions about 7 innings out of the nine and your kid has a legitimate chance at participating. But, and there’s only one ‘but,’ the Gwinnett Braves aren’t very good this season. In fact, they’re in last place in their division.

So, Turner or Coolray this weekend? If it helps, the Gwinnett Braves are showing their thanks and holding Fan Appreciation Weekend Friday through Sunday. There will be baseball card giveaways and even fireworks on tonight, August 27th. Coolray Field is only a 20 minute drive from The Reserve at Sugarloaf, so the only decision you need to make is whether you want to see a win or have fun with the kids practically on the field. Either way I’ll be there on Monday, August 30th for the last game of the season.

The Festival of Books

READING!

With school having started just a few weeks ago, this weekend’s Suwanee Festival of Books is just in time! The inaugural events will promote literacy awareness and education all while having fun. It’s being held at Suwanee Town Center Park, a beautiful recently erected area with plenty of space, so you won’t be packed in a tiny space like some festivals.

There will be plenty of exhibitors on hand for you to talk with and browse through including book publishers, retail stores, theater companies and restaurants. And let’s not forget the authors! Haywood Smith will be on hand as well as Patti Callahan Henry and a couple Keynote Speakers as well. Terry Kay will speak on Saturday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. and Rick Smith will present his speech on Sunday, August 29th at 2:00 p.m. as well.

Be sure to come out to the Festival this weekend any time from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and fall into the world of literacy. Be sure and take the kids–they’re our future! Suwanee’s only a short 8 minute drive from The Reserve at Sugarloaf! Will you be there?

SunO Treats

Beautifully shaved ice!

The weather has cooled off a bit these past few days with the threat of rain impending daily, but you can bet your last dollar it’ll be 90° for about six days straight come next week. And when that happens you know exactly where you can find me:  I turn to SunO. It’s a modest space located right off Pleasant Hill that offers the best shaved ice treats this side of the Mississippi (yes, it’s that good!)

The menu is overwhelming with 18 different flavor combinations to choose from (plus you can make your own)! A few of the flavors they offer are Piña Colada, Pudding Delight and Fruit Party, which is my favorite!  No matter what you get you’ll leave the store satisfied. Believe me.

And not only do they offer SunO Shaved Ice Treats, but Crepe Treats where they add, you guessed it, a crepe to the mix! And I can’t forget about their Wheel Pies, which are essentially custard filled shortcakes. Scrumptious. You will thank yourself for getting out in the sun and getting a SunO. Trust me, Reserve at Sugarloaf. It’s only an 11 minutes drive!

She also keeps the cute Geese on her front porch year round and changes their clothes on a regular basis. The residents love to walk by her apartment to see what clothes she’ll put on next.  Congrats to Donna, who won a $100 Home Depot gift card!
